Valentine's Day in Singapore - Good Romantic Dinner and Ideas to Celebrate

Updated on January 27, 2013

Valentine's Day in Singapore

Having valentine day dinner in Singapore, seems to be some people's concern. Other concerns are ideas of what to write in a valentine's day card, great Valentine's Day ideas for her, valentine's day special, good restaurants to celebrate valentine's day, suggestions to go or do on valentine's day, ideas on what to get a guy on valentine's day, restaurants serving candlelight dinner in Singapore, best place to celebrate valentines day, cheap romantic ideas for valentine's day. Valentine's day ideas in Singapore can be an endless list. Some are thinking "How to celebrate or spend valentine's day in Singapore". However, let me share some extravagant ideas with you.

Celebrating Valentine's Day in Singapore

Valentine's Day is on 14 February. Usually it is the man who should take the initiative. In Japan when I was living there for 4 years, the ladies and girls will buy and present chocolates to their boyfriends, male colleagues, and maybe husbands. In Singapore, it is the men who are expected to take the initiative to arrange everything for that special day of celebrating love between 2 persons. So far I have not heard of ladies taking the initiative.... let me know if there are such instances.

Valentine's Day Ideas

Here are some big ideas to celebrate Valentine's Day in Singapore, or do something similar in your own country, be it in Asia, America or Australia. Handle such ideas with tender loving care.... and just enjoy that day, enveloped in love. One idea that just came to mind, is about taking short trip out to somewhere that is 5 hour radius from Singapore. Enjoying a romantic and relaxing vacation and celebrating Valentine's Day. You may want to find out more checking out the popular Natas Fair Singapore.

Valentine's Day Surprises

You may want to make an extra effort to surprise your spouse on valentine's day. Wake up quietly in the middle of the night. Decorate the bathroom with endearing words, balloons, flowers, chocolates and her favourite scent... and well wrapped gift. Just imagine when she wakes up to wash up, and the first thing to greet her will be these surprises. Hope you can imagine what I am imagining right now. How you purchase, prepare in advance and store those decorations, you will have to plan. All the best!

Deliver a Bouquet of Flowers

This may be one of the great valentine's day ideas for her. Order a bouquet of flowers, her favourite ones. Most girls or ladies love Roses... (but do find out subtly what her favourite colour is)... 12 stalks to represent each month, 365 to remember her everyday (too many and it is very very expensive).... or 7 stalks which represents Perfect Love. Write a nice note on the card also. And.... Have it delivered by someone to her office or her home (if she happens to be at home that day). She will be surprised and impressed to have a valentine like you, if this is the first time she is getting such a treat on valentine's day. You may want to SMS (text) her to ensure she is home or in the office to help you receive a special parcel which you may not be able to receive it at the moment. Alternatively, ask the florist for a favour to call you once the flowers are received by her... then call her immediately.

Romantic Candle Light Dinner

Check whether your valentine likes natural, sea view, or on the top of world feeling. Reserve a table for two and have a special candle-light dinner at one secluded corner of a nice restaurant with good food, ambience, music and service. I can suggest places like Mount Faber, Sentosa, Raffels Marina, MBS Skypark or the Equinox on the level 69 of Swissotel Hotel. It will be impressive and indeed romantic. One of these may be a good restaurant to celebrate valentines day in Singapore.

Singapore Flyer Experience

Singapore has the BIG FERRIS WHEEL called the Singapore Flyer. Standing 169 metres tall, it will take about 30 minutes for the whole ride. Reserve a pair of tickets to bring her up there in the evening. It will be a beautiful and romantic evening with the glittering lights of Singapore and neighbouring countries on a dark night. I bet you will wish that the ride will go on and on for the whole evening.

A Romantic Evening on a Yacht

Very few have gone on a ride in a Yacht. It can be rather safe if it is not too windy and if it is not raining. If you or your valentine can get sea sick easily.... please forgo this idea. Yachts can be rented for a day at affordable prices. There will be someone to help you operate the yacht. Bring a picnic basket along. Enjoy the sea breeze and the sun. I suggest going out in the afternoon and returning after watching the sunset, and have nice candle light dinner at the marina. You can find such facilities at Raffles Marina or SAF Yacht Club.

Cook for Your Valentine

This is only for those who are good at cooking somethng delightful and presentable. And of course, if you are living with your parents, get their cooperation to stay out of the house till midnight. Impress your valentine with a menu well written out with special meaning to each dish. Do something simple, nice but not too messy. Have some good instrumental music, candle light and dim lighting in the dining area. I cook quite well.... and I have impressed my wife's friends and my daughter's school friends too. So... guys.... this is your chance.

Do Something She Has Always Dreamt of Doing

In your conversation with your girlfriend or spouse.... find out what she really wish to do if given the chance. It could be dining at a rather luxury restaurant (if it is within your budget), go bungee jumping, a special trip out of Singapore together without the kids (I only recommend this to married couples), climbing up some mountains together (if she is outdoor kind), whatever she likes and you may not like it.... but you will walk that extra mile to get it done no matter what.

Propose to Her on Valentine's Day

Guys! This is the ultimate! Of course not on the first date or your first valentine celebration with her. Do it when you think she is ready and you are also ready. This can be a grand affair... like during a group valentine's day party with some very close friends (hers and yours), attending the party as couples. Get the EmCee to make a special announcement to get you and your valentine on stage to play a game or do something together. Get the Music ready to cue you to kneel down and propose.... make sure you have a bouquet of flowers or a ring to present as a gesture of your abiding love and commitment.

Most Memorable Valentine's Day

I am sure you can find alternatives to celebrate Valentine's Day. Try out one of the above if it is not too threatening to your relationship. I am sure you will love it, and find more creative ideas to celebrate this special day. Sometimes it is good to do something unexpected on top of the bouquet of flowers you present her. Have a memorable Valentine's Day!
